Curious

From ISU AD Jamie Pollard:

“Auburn’s interest in Gene speaks to his (Chizik’s) reputation,” Pollard said. “We saw that same potential in Gene two years ago. He is an outstanding football coach, tremendous recruiter and inspiring leader. When your organization has talented staff members, other schools express interest in their services.”

When was the last time an AD actively campaigned for a better school to steal his football coach?

UPDATE: Nice work, Pollard--Chizik to Auburn.

Let Me Just Say

What a fucking joke we’ve become

(more so).

I don’t even know what to think.

Chizik is going to get crucified next year if he doesn’t get the Auburn job, so he better hope he does.

Let me just say

Chizik may be a great coach, but it was a terrible hire by Pollard. A program like Iowa St (and I use the term ‘program’ loosely) had no business hiring a guy who’d

  • never been a head coach in Division I football
  • never had to build a program
  • never been around a losing program
  • in the Midwest
  • never had to deal with recruiting
  • adversity
  • did I mention losing?

Pollard may go down as more than an asshole. Now I think he will more likely be known as an idiot, which is quite the achievement when you consider how much of an asshole he is.

Pollard is just full of "good" decisions

Geno had better hope he gets the job. If he doesn’t, can he, in good faith, come back to the first school that gave him a HC job and expect everything to be hunky dory? Wasn’t it just a month ago that he professed his love for the school, the team, the town and the atmosphere? Not that anyone can expect coaches to be honest (Petrino, Saban), and there has been precendent in coaches coming back (Altman). I think he has to be gone either way though. Not that Ames is by any means a football destination (pffft) but at least any incoming coach would get to pick his coordinators since Geno demoted? his. Thank God for the cattle college in Ames though. Makes some of the shenanigans in IC look like normal D1 football issues.

I don’t know about that. I don’t think anyone, Clone fans included, can be too upset about him looking at the Auburn job. It’s a HUGE upgrade and anyone in their right mind would take a sniff of that.

Of course, I just said anyone in their right mind while talking about Clone fans…

Cyclone Fanatic..

has been a fucking train wreck since about 2 pm yesterday. They’re literally going apeshit. It’s quite entertaining, especially the mods telling everyone to play nice. Fuck ’em, and fuck Pollard – he made his bed.

It's kind of neat

seeing both fanbases in a collective “what the fuck” mentality.

The new Auburn head coach is a guy people wanted fired from Iowa State. Iowa fucking State.

by CrossCyed on Dec 13, 2008 3:21 PM CST reply actions

People wanted Chizik fired?

C’mon, it’s common knowledge that he didn’t have a whole lot to work with, but after 2 years with a young team? That jumping the gun a bit, don’t you think?

by TarHeelHawk on Dec 13, 2008 3:22 PM CST reply actions

I didn't...

I friggin believed in the guy. I’ve had some discussions with BHGP the last few weeks and he can attest to that…

This just frickin blindsides everyone.

CrossCyed...

This is BHGP, not Battlestar Galactica. You can say “fuck” here.

I think it’s appropriate given the circumstances, anyway.

Iowa State is Kyle from South Park...

….during the first part of the episode where Cartman gets an amusement park

that’s what it feels like. You guys get what you wanted (a bowl game). We’re stuck with a hemorrhoid. It hurts to sit down.
