Greene Wins Doak Walker!

[Bumped. This was a foregone conclusion, but still, hooray Shonn Greene hooray hooray.--OPS]

Congratulations to Shonn for winning the Doak Walker Award tonight for the nation's best running back.

The Heisman Trophy has turned into a beauty contest.  Being the nation's best running back is a badge of honor.  Every carry, every yard, every spin, every Frank Duong driven into the turf makes him the best.

It has been awesome to watch him play this year.  I can't wait to watch him run over Ol' Dirty Ballcoach in three weeks.

Greene wins an award based on football play

And not on “leadership” or on torching BIG-12 pass defenses.

I think that should read

torching Big-12 “pass defense” (alleged, all evidence as to existence is purely speculative).

I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.

you tell me what kind

of world this is where awards are based on merit?

no sir, not a world i want to be in.

ringer should have won. c’mon, the guy has way more carries, so he must be more important.

Not to mention BCS rankings. C’mon, Florida didn’t lose to Ol’ Miss at home, and besides, saint Tebow said if it had happened he would never let it happen again. Bless you.

Something tells me

Randy Reiners or Beutjer the Future could have lit up BigXII defenses this year.

by Shooter McGavin on Dec 12, 2008 12:17 AM CST reply actions

makes me wonder

Does Beutjer get punched in the face on GP these days? I like to think so.

I got more rhymes than Wade Lookingbill's got dunks

by Adam Jacobi on Dec 12, 2008 12:22 AM CST up reply actions

Thats true

Feutjer getting punched in face led to:
Banks starting in 2002 which led to:
Orange Bowl Road Trip which led to:
Making out with hot chick on crutches at some dance club in South Beach on New Years while also hanging out with Chevelle

Not to mention the best 7 seconds of Iowa Football history

On crutches?

You, or the hot chick?

Also, given that it’s Chevelle (really?), you might want to say that they were hanging out with you.

by Bucketochicken on Dec 12, 2008 10:47 AM CST up reply actions

The hot chick

Oddly enough, I saw this same chick while visiting Colorado on Spring Break the next spring (ESPNZone). Then I saw her at Fitzpatricks that summer (RIP Original Fitzpatricks). She didn’t even live in Iowa but kept popping up everywhere. Weird, voo doo stuff.

And you’re right, Chevelle must have been hanging out with US. We were stupid enough to bring broads with us on this road trip but thankfully Chevelle kept them occupied that night at the bar.

Gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling

to get to hear our fight song blaring in front of the entire college football universe. I can’t help but grin with pride.

Plus I love the thought of all my Husker friends and the jISUs / jNWUs and everyone else grinding their teeth in jealousy as it plays. Greene with envy?? (I know that was bad)

It’s great to be a Hawkeye.

Go Hawks!

Answer: DUONG!

Question: The sound it makes when Shonn Greene trucks a defensive back… DUONG!

by The Nihilist on Dec 12, 2008 3:00 PM CST reply actions

Should have been invited

Shonn should have been invited to NYC, just out of courtesy.

by joebaxter on Dec 15, 2008 7:29 AM CST reply actions

They hardly ever invite 6 guys

Unless it’s close, which this one wasn’t outside of the top 3.
