I'd say that's a little weird.
"JJohnson-Koulianos was a regular at the team's Tuesday gatherings with the media early in the season. That, too, has changed since the start of October. More specifically, it changed after Johnson-Koulianos conducted interviews Sept. 29 wearing sunglasses and a mesh hat.
"I took him off the Tuesday list," Ferentz said. "We're working on his dress code. That's really not what we're looking for."

Anyone see what Clinton Portis wears at a press conference? I suppose he should be stopped, benched, publicly ridiculed, too:
Personally, I would prefer that DJK not wear women's underwear to his press conferences with the poodles, donkeys, suck-ups of the Iowa media (you know, the ones who never ask why our OC can't get plays in on time?).
But if he did, I'd ask him, "You know, DJK, my girlfriend says there's nothing like La Perla. Now, what's up with the 55 year-old OC not able to call a play in time?"

I agree
Ferentz is a little too caught up with this. Remember when CBI pictures circulated the internet and Ferentz alluded to the Iowa fans not being tolerant of the thug image. Big deal, quit being so protective.
C'mon. Ferentz's ass is on the line here.
Last year he got roasted for the thug behavior. Wasn’t keeping his “kids” in line. So of course he is sending a message, a broadcast in fact, to media, players, admin, etc. that he is doing his job. I have no problem with him doing this and I have no problem with DJK doing what he did. They will both be fine. Beside, DJK needs to get his ass open more often. So maybe this will light him up a bit.

I'm wondering if it's just an excuse.
DJK isn’t do that well, the team isn’t doing that well…what if he’s getting frustrated and KF is pre-emptively removing him from the media to prevent him from saying something that isn’t the party line.

Maybe but
DJK is not being a thug here. Sunglasses and a mesh hat? What’s next, you have to wear navy blue or khaki pants, button down shirt (with no logos of courase), keep your haircut above your shoulders, and most importantly, YOUR SHIRT TUCKED IN.
Maybe I’m just bitter about having a dress code in high school.
It's a stupid rule
But it’s still a team rule, and DJK knew about it before hand. He’s got no one to blame but himself.
As for the benching, I don’t really think it’s related. He hasn’t done anything to show he deserves a starting spot lately, might as well give Stross (who I think is a better receiver for the 10 seconds every season that he’s healthy anyway) a shot.
Not in interviews
Like I said, it’s a really dumb rule.
Come on, people!
Anyone who thinks its a bad rule is an idiot. It’s about respect, and carrying yourself with a little class. The Clinton Portis analogy is way off…he’s a grown man and a professional getting paid, he can do what he wants. I totally agree with Ferentz.
