Iowa-Purdue, 11:00, BTN (Thom Brennaman, Chris Martin, Anthony Herron).  I haven't been outside yet, but the weather looks miserable.  It might be Senior Day, but I'm staying right here.

Charles Davis' unprecedented streak of idiocy continues unabated

He just said the Sash interception “sealed the game,” then followed that up by saying Penn State is the “unquestioned” best defense in the conference. And this is Fox’s lead analyst.

Please, God, give the BCS to ABC. Or CBS. Or the Family Channel. Anything has to be better than this.

Flipping it around the other Big Ten games. Got to NU-Mich just in time to see NU continue their stellar tackling from last week. At least 5 Wildcats got a hand on Carlos Brown, but still let him gain 13 yards. Game is 7-7

Inexplicably, Juice has yet to throw an INT and Illinois is on the OSU 12 yard line. And of course, as I type those words, Juice throws an INT. OSU up 16-7. But remember, Juice is a GOOD QB!

Kirk really really loves Bruggeman

I don’t think he’s had an interview this year where he didn’t bring him up.

by NorseHawk on Nov 15, 2008 2:06 PM CST reply actions

It wasn't anything big

The question was about King and Kroul and Kirk found a way to work Bruggeman’s leadership into the answer. He’s done that a bunch this year, you can tell he thinks really likes the kid.

by NorseHawk on Nov 15, 2008 3:17 PM CST up reply actions

He did the same thing

with Kaeding, Sanders, and Gallery in 2003. Understandably.

In other news, Adam Rittenberg is a mad genius...

Iowa 23, Purdue 17 — The Hawkeyes could struggle early after an emotional win last week, and Purdue’s defense has done a good job against traditional offenses this season. Joe Tiller rotates quarterbacks Justin Siller and Curtis Painter and has some success, but Iowa running back Shonn Greene proves to be too much with his 11th consecutive 100-yard rushing game. Iowa’s defense clamps down late to seal the win.

He has access to a time machine?

Why weren’t we made aware of this earlier?

by chitownhawkeye on Nov 15, 2008 4:35 PM CST up reply actions

Looking at the standings....

So if both Iowa and Northwestern win next week, and end up tied in conference, could we get chosen over the Wildkittens for a bowl? Because I would enjoy that immensely.

by Ratface McDougal on Nov 15, 2008 2:46 PM CST reply actions

Sorry I'm late....

What? You didn’t notice?

But seriously, no fucking chance any bowl selection committee takes Northwestern over Iowa if they have the same record. Bowl games are about attendance and Iowa travels better than maybe any team in the conference. NU is worst in Big Ten in attendance – home or away.

Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon....

by Hayden Fry's Moustache Ride on Nov 15, 2008 2:59 PM CST up reply actions

I couldn't remember the rules..

They would have better overall record and won head to head. I didn’t think that mattered, but I couldn’t remember. I know there is definitely no way NU gets chosen over Iowa given how we travel.

So if everything goes well next week, Iowa wins, Minnesota loses, Illinois loses, and Northwestern wins but get screwed over.

That would be a good week.

by Ratface McDougal on Nov 15, 2008 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

if Michigan State loses

Iowa is allowed to jump them into the #3 spot, but that’s probably not going to happen

They travel better to bowls

than their home record indicates. That being said, you’re right, we get chosen over them in a heartbeat even without the PSU win.
