I'm posting this in hopes of bestirring bhgp and causing them to remove the destroyed turkey carcass from the home page. Oh, that and Brian says the Michigan job belongs to Ferentz if he wants it.
I guess I half-want him to take the job, just to drive the pitchfork-and-torch set over there into a delusional, uncontrollable, fury. What a bunch of assholes. A bunch of them wonder why the college president at a place as notable as Michigan gets to be involved in the hiring decision. They really don't understand that it's college football.
In general, some of the sheen of college sports is clearly gone for me. Booing Shada when he walks onto the field 5 years after nearly dying -- and Ferentz keeping his scholarship offer in place -- was a clue. The problem with Iowans is they are too polite to tell drunk-ass football-ignorant boors to shut up. I do believe some of the viciousness the Iowa team has experienced this year from the peanut gallery has to make Ferentz think twice about continuing. It is possible for an executive to stay too long: the dolts in the audience, comprehending 5% of what they watch, unite in their opinion that they (let's call them the Doltish Majority) should be running the show.
Of course, it will be an order of magnitude worse at Michigan, this screeching, tine-sharpening, and occasional lynching, but strangely, that's an argument to move on. If you're going to be a foil and a target for a bunch of assholes still projecting their own junior high school gridiron achievements, might as well do it on a bigger stage with more assets.
