Around SBN: 2011 In Extreme Home Runs

INITIAL BLOGPOLL: WEEK 8

The wheel keeps turning. I'm no more clear where we're headed now than I was 8 weeks ago. I do know this: there is no superior team, nor is there a superior conference, this season. This isn't parity, it's mediocrity, and that's not good for anyone. Further, if we go through an entire season like this and come back next year with the same BCS system that we have now, all of this [waves hands around maniacally] was for naught, and that makes me sick.

Oh yeah, we have a new #1, again. Groovy!

I remember
after Louisville got upset, turning to my friend and saying, "Wouldn't it be cool if every top 10 team got upset?"

Based upon seeing your ranking of ASU at #3 and (I can't argue with it, but I don't have to like it), and the meatstick Buckeye commenter in the previous post, I long for the days when the BCS wasn't fucked to all hell. Is this the apocolypse?

If you need me, I'll be waiting by the Hudson River awaiting its transformation into blood, and all the fish to die. Er...if there were fish in the Hudson.

Missouri

I'm not a Missouri fan in any way shape or form, but I do live in Columbia and cover them for a radio station.  I can categorically tell you Missouri is the best team no one knows about.  They absolutely DESTROYED Texas Tech, held them to 10 points...scoreless in the second half.

Jeremy Maclin is an absolute stud, and Chase Daniel is maybe the most accurate passer in the college game.  The defense is finally coming to life, intercepting Graham Harrell 4 times on Saturday...he had 3 all season long coming in.

I'm not sure where they rank, but I promise you it is in the top 10 at the bare minimum.

Yeah, I'm a biased OSU fan, but. . .

What's the explanation for jumping BC over OSU? I realize a 24-17 win doesn't sound especially impressive, but c'mon, the Buckeyes held MSU under 200 yards of offense while putting up 422 total yards of their own. Plus, they went ahead and game the Spartans 14 points, because they're just a giving bunch of guys. That performance has got to be more impressive than a bye, right? So why the change? A re-evaluation of the two teams?
